Union County functions under the Commissioner/Manager form of government with five Commissioners and an appointed County Manager. The Board of County Commissioners is the legislative and governing body of Union County. The Commission is responsible for establishing policies to protect the health, safety and general welfare of Union County residents. All five Commissioners are elected at-large and serve four-year staggered terms. The County Manager is appointed by, and serves at the pleasure of, the Board of Commissioners. It is the County Manager's responsibility to implement all decisions, policies, programs and motions approved by the Board.
