Party Affiliation


 

North Carolina is a closed primary state. When you register, you will be asked to declare your party affiliation. You may register in one of the following ways:

Democratic:
May vote in Democratic primaries and all non-partisan, bond, referenda, special, and general elections.

Libertarian:
May vote in all Libertarian primaries non-partisan, bond, referenda, special, and general elections.

Republican:
May vote in Republican primaries and all non-partisan, bond, referenda, special, and general elections.

Unaffiliated:
May vote in all non-partisan, bond, referenda, special, and general elections. May vote in political party primaries, only where approved by the party.

To vote in all Local, State and National Elections, a person must be registered at least 25 DAYS PRIOR to the Election.
