Nutrition services are provided to Union County residents through three programs. Client income is not a consideration for an individual to qualify for anyone of these programs, however, donations are encouraged.
Senior Dining Sites
The congregate program is available for any senior citizen 60 years or older. Lunchtime meals are provided Monday – Friday. Serving times vary based on site locations. Home Delivered Meals
The Home Delivered Meals program provides nutritious meals Monday – Friday for homebound senior citizens. Participants must be 60 years of age or older and meet the regulated criteria for this program. However, County staff can conduct a home visit to evaluate any person requiring this type of service. Clients may be placed on a waiting list if an existing route or volunteer is not available at the time the application is submitted.
Supplemental Nutrition Products
This program provides supplemental meals (Ensure Plus) 24 days per month for chronically ill senior citizens who are 60 years of age or older. Physician authorization is required to participate in this service. Based upon demand, clients may be placed on a waiting list until space becomes available. Priority for service will be based upon the severity of the illnesses being considered.
