The purpose of Child Protective Services In-Home Services is to address the issues and resolve the needs that caused the family to be involved with the Department of Social Services.
The aim is to:
- Protect the children;
- Monitor and assess the safety of and the risk to the child;
- Work with the family to identify their strengths and their concerns or needs;
- Develop a family services case plan to keep the children and family together and alleviate the issues which brought the family to agency attention;
- Work with the family to secure the skills, services, knowledge and resources needed to complete the case plan; and
- Conduct child and family team meetings in a family centered approach so as to achieve safety and stability within the family.
The family services worker and the family discuss together the progress the family has made or not made in regard to completion of the goals. The case is closed when the goals are met and the risk to the children has been reduced to a safe standard.
