The Water Resource Management Division manages the department’s stormwater management program and water resource planning efforts through the coordination with other Public Works’ Divisions and Union County Departments, as well as,Federal, State, and Local agencies.
The Stormwater Section strives to protect local water quality, control flooding, and reduce impacts to private properties from developments by informing developers of Federal, State, and Local regulations related to stormwater and flood plain management and assisting them through the plan approval process. The Stormwater Section responsibilities include stormwater plan review, FEMA floodplain development review, and site inspections for subdivisions in unincorporated Union County, Lake Park, and Hemby Bridge. This Section recommends policy development and provides technical assistance regarding stormwater management and flood plain development within Public Works and to other Union County departments. Staff also responds to drainage complaints from the public as required and coordinates storm water public education efforts.
