The School Building Sanitation Program seeks to protect and improve the health of children and families of Union County through the application of the North Carolina Rules Governing the Sanitation of Public, Private, and Religious Schools. Unannounced inspections of school buildings are performed on an annual basis and address many areas of the school including: water supplies, lavatory facilities, lighting and ventilation, locker rooms, solid waste and disposal, and the storage of pesticides and toxic waste.
School Buildings are graded on a 100 point scale and are assigned a numerical grade. No letter grade is posted in a school building.
