The Union County department of Homeland Security is responsible for:
- Directing and coordinating responses for disasters, emergencies and threat assessment of terrorism, including bioterrorism.
- Managing Union County Emergency Management, Fire Marshal's Office and Emergency Communications.
- Building coalitions with local law enforcement, fire departments, government entities and appropriate public or private organizations necessary to develop, implement and respond to security and emergency concerns.
- Developing and managing state and federal grant funding for emergency management, homeland security and bioterrorism programs.
