About Fred Kirby Park

Fred Kirby Park Gazebo and Soccer FieldFred Kirby Park is located in the western part of Union County in the Lake Park Community. This park was developed as a small athletic complex for both baseball and soccer. The park has the following amenities:

  • (2) Baseball Fields
  • (1) Full-size Soccer Field
  • (2) Small gazebos style shelters (20’ x 20’)
  • (1) Small playground
  • Paved walking trail (approximately 1/3 mile)
  • Restroom facilities

Athletic fields can be reserved 48-hours in advance between mid-February and mid-November each year. Fred Kirby Park Baseball Field(Rest/Recovery periods for the fields’ turf are normally scheduled in June/July.) The baseball fields are not lighted for night play. The soccer field is lighted for night play up to 9:30pm. Athletic fields can not be used by individuals/teams without a confirmed reservation.  Reservations may be requested Monday-Friday, 8:30am-4:30pm as indicated below.

The park gates are open when the athletic fields are in use by individuals/teams with approved reservations. Otherwise, the gates to the park are locked, indicating the park is closed.

Requesting A Reservation (Baseball or Soccer Field):

For an athletic field reservation request, please click here and e-mail completed form to parkreservations@co.union.nc.us. E-mail requests are preferred but if e-mail is not available, faxed or mailed-in requests are accepted. Reservations are accepted Monday through Friday, 8:30am – 4:30pm and must be received a minimum of 48 hours in advance. Fees must be paid prior to using the field.

Note: Reservations for the Winter/Spring season is opened are the preceding December.  Reservations for the Summer/Fall season are opened in the preceding June.

Address:  Located next to the Lake Park Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, 3315 Faith Church Road, Indian Trail, NC 28079.

From Monroe: Take Hwy 74 West. Turn right on Faith Church Road and continue approximately 8/10th of a mile. The park is located on the left.
