Jesse Helms Park Soccer Complex opened for pubic use July 25,2009 and is located at 1505 Summerlin Dairy
Road, Monroe, NC 28112. This complex has six (6) full-size “game” soccer fields. A limited amount of fields can be laid out for U-10 through Adult games upon request. Fields are primarily for official game play but there are a limited number of practice sessions which can be scheduled during the week. Fields can be reserved 48-hours in advance between April 1 and November 15 each year. These fields are not lighted for night play. Soccer fields cannot be used by individuals/teams without a confirmed reservation. Reservations may be requested Monday-Friday, 8:30am-4:30pm as indicated below. Fields can not be used for “unauthorized activities” (rugby, golf practice, etc.).
The Soccer Complex also has the following additional recreational facilities:
- Covered picnic shelter with picnic tables and double grill. Capacity: 75 people (maximum).
- Four individual concrete picnic sites with a grill and picnic table. (Capacity: Maximum of 12 people)
- One playground
- Paved walking track (approximately 4/10th mile)
- Bathroom facilities
- Six-section exercise station
The Soccer Complex is open for public use of the playground, walking trail, picnic shelter, and picnic sites from 8:00-5:00, Monday-Friday between April 1st and November 15th. (Rest/Recovery periods for the field’s turf are normally scheduled in June/July.) If soccer games are scheduled over the weekends, all facilities will be open during games times for public use. If no games are scheduled, the gates are locked and the park is closed for the day. Please call ahead to see if games are scheduled for the weekend (phone: 704-843-3919).

Requesting A Reservation (Soccer Fields or Shelters):
For a soccer field reservation request, please click here and e-mail completed form to parkreservations@co.union.nc.us. To complete a shelter reservation, please send an e-mail request to this same e-mail address. E-mail requests are preferred but if e-mail is not available, faxed or mailed-in requests are accepted. Reservations are accepted Monday through Friday, 8:30am – 4:30pm and must be received a minimum of 48 hours in advance. Fees must be paid prior to using the facility.
Note: Reservations for “non-tournament play” for the Winter/Spring season are opened the preceding December. Reservations for the Summer/Fall season are opened the preceding June.

From the traffic signal at the junction of Hwy 74 and South Main Street in Wingate, NC, turn on South Main Street and travel 7/10 of a mile. Turn right on Summerlin Dairy Road and travel approximately 1.4 miles. The soccer complex will be located on the right.
