Child Care, Schools & Camps

The purpose of the Children’s Environmental Health Program is to protect and improve the health of children by the implementation of programs involved in reducing the environmental health risks in child care facilities, schools, camps and lead poisoning prevention. Children's Environmental Health also provides educational materials and referrals to community resources related to asthma, mold and other indoor air quality concerns.

Environmental Health is involved in these facilities from the planning and construction phase to the daily operation by offering instruction and training to personnel and routine sanitation inspections. In order to stay in touch with the community Environmental Health partners with other agencies and associations such as; Union County Public Schools, Union County Child Care Directors Association, Union County Family Child Care Association, Child Care Resources Inc. and Thompson’s Child and Family Focus.

Education is a valuable tool in keeping these facilities as well as homes safe. Environmental Health offers educational classes to child care personnel. We also provide educational information, links to pertinent web sites and are also available for general questions by direct contact.
