What kind of services does Adult Services provide?

Union County works to support adults who rely on others for care so that they can remain living with dignity, security and independence. Specific services include:

  • Guardianship for adults who have been deemed incompetent by a court of law
  • Adult home specialist for monitoring and investigating complaints regarding local adult care homes to ensure compliance and safety of the residents
  • In-home special assistance
  • Adult placement services (adult care homes/assisted living facilities)
  • Payee services
  • Individual and family adjustment
  • Financial assistance for adult day-care and adult day-health programs
  • In-home aide services
  • Adult protective services
  • Community outreach services/adult referral services

To report suspected abuse, neglect or exploitation of a disabled adult, please contact the Division of Social Services and ask to speak with an Adult Services Intake Social Worker or you may come into the agency to make a report.

Aid to the blind

The North Carolina Division of Services for the Blind provides treatment, rehabilitation, education and independent living alternatives for blind and visually impaired residents. Through vocational rehabilitation, we help people find and keep jobs. We also promote the prevention of blindness through educational programs.

About Adult Services

Adult Services is responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of disabled adults in Union County. Besides providing support services, Adult Services also receives and evaluates reports of abuse, caretaker neglect, self-neglect and exploitation to determine the need for protective services.

Hours of Operation:
Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
