Annual Household Hazardous Waste Day was a Huge Success

Posted on 05/07/15

May 7, 2015, Monroe, NC – Union County Public Works held its annual Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event on Saturday, April 25. More than 600 vehicles came out with record volumes of paint, tires, household hazardous waste, paper and electronics.

“I spoke to most residents that pulled through and everyone seemed to be very pleased with the event” said Solid Waste Division Director Ron Gilkerson. “The overwhelming response from the public that day was 'thank you for doing this and please do it again'.”

Thanks to everyone that assisted and helped to make Household Hazardous Waste Day a huge success - Union County Master Gardeners, City of Monroe and Union County employees, N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, and volunteers.
